To be frank, if I'm not aware that this is a macro photo of moss then I would probably guess that it's a photo of a dense forest. The shape and form of the moss are so refined that I imagined them as leaves of plants.
I'm mostly amazed by the lush color of the moss, the variation of green color gives it depth and contrast. That's the same reason why they also look great in the monochrome version.
