Want some blackberries? Maybe in a few days, I'll have a full ripened berry. At this point, it will taste sour and very bitter; it's not going to be a pleasant experience. But when the right time comes, it will turn into a shiny dark purple berry that is very sweet and a tiny hint of tart taste on it. I will post an update soon!
Anyway, there's one thing to bear in mind when picking blackberries from the plant. The berry itself easily detaches from its base but while doing so make sure that you keep a distance from any other part of the plants. It's entirely covered with thorns.
I pricked my finger once and it stings. If ever that it happened to you then you have to make sure that none of the thorns got stuck on your skin otherwise it will get infected. Make sure to clean the affected area as early as you can.
The plant may look demure but if you check under the leaves, it's also filled with tiny thorns that have the tendency to cling on your clothes or under your skin when you get pricked by it.
Other than that, the harvesting of berries is an enjoyable experience.
