Evening at the Corniche

Weekend evening I went to the Corniche for a stroll. The weather is nice and it's festival vibe, it feels good to be in such places. Muttrah Corniche in Muscat city is the old city side. Some 40 years back this was the only area in the city which was developed, rest whole of the space was Desert area. Quite commendable, how this whole city has developed in the last 30 to 40 years. When I hear stories from expats who have been living here since those times, I wonder if I would have been able to survive in such a place where absolutely there was nothing. I don't think so I would have been. Today also at times I find life very slow in this place and get bored very easily. When I compare it to Mumbai city which is full of life 24x7 this place looks very ancient to me. In a way it is good also, sometimes I enjoy this slow life and solitude

This is the Sultan's ship. It is permanently docked in this place. No one knows if it's ever being used or not, I guess they must be using it to entertain dignitaries.

During the day time the place looks good, specially in winters.

The structure that you see here is the city fish market. It's the one and only biggest fish market in the city.

I enjoy taking walks in this place. There are quite a few shops here which sells Traditional Omani things. During the winter season, Cruise ships come here and this whole place is filled with Tourist. Last 2 years we did not see them, but this year is going to be a good one. All of these are on the opposite side of the road

This is Hubby's favorite place for walks and we come here often.
