Strange patterns on the ice 🌻 ❄️ 🌻 ❄️

I noticed these strange circular patterns on the Canal the other night when we were driving through Ottawa on our way to Tremblant.

I think they are pumping water up to thicken the ice for skating. We will check it again on our way back.

Or maybe it’s Aliens … making snowflake or sunflower patterns ???
