in photography •  3 years ago

The collection of anthropological miniature sculptures you see is the work of Mr. Jahangir Arjmand, an Iranian artist.
The exhibition of this collection was opened in "Baharestan Gallery Garden" Iran-Tehran.
In addition to Mr. Arjmand's works in the "Baharestan Garden Gallery" collection, some of his works are purchased at the American Museum and some by the German Embassy and transferred to that country and kept.

biography

Jahangir Arjmand (date of death 2013 - date of birth 1923) Born in Tehran and a self-taught sculptor, he tried to immortalize the cultural, social and political history of this land in his statues.
The statues are all made of Styrofoam, a worthless material that no other sculptor can safely say used to make his sculptures.

As a child, he was very interested in painting, especially face painting, and always painted the faces of his friends and teachers.
From the age of 44, he turned to sculpture without the presence of any professor.
His tool is only a half-shaved razor.

Even at the age of 91, his artist's hands, with such skill and mastery, he sculpts a beautiful statue out of Styrofoam with a razor blade that the eyes of every spectator stare at its work.

method

His method was such that he first extracted the whole volume from Styrofoam with a razor blade,
He then used the same razor to make details such as eyes, lips and teeth,

After polishing with soft sandpaper, she applied thin socks to the face according to the color of her face and finally made up her face.
Dyeing the face, eyebrows, hair, beard and mustache is done with self-dyed sheep wool and in some cases human hair.
Sewing and dosing of clothes, shoes and hats have all been done with great care in choosing the material and color of the fabric, and finally it has been sewn by hand.

The tools and equipment around the statues are also made of Styrofoam, paper, cardboard, wood and small recycled items.
In the end, the artistry, precision and elegance of each are in place.
