My Grapefruit Tree- Dormant for Winter

in photography •  11 months ago

Check out my grapefruit tree. It is a mature specimen that is about 6-7 years old. It was planted when we bought our property in the American Southwest, and it's driving despite being planted directly adjacent a brick wall that radiates heat during the Summer months.

The Winter has been harsh for our region thus far, and I am glad out forecast has shown improving conditions. This tree does not like temperatures below 40 F. This Winter has been a challenge for our peppers and tomatoes, and our eggplants are barely alive. We needed to cover and insulate the plants, and considered wrapping this plant, but the brick wall was able to radiate enough heat for it to survive the below freezing nights here. The desert gets hot and cold and no in between is seen here.

Grapefruit is great for the body, and I suggest you plant or buy some for optimal health. It's rich in vitamin C and fiber, and can help regulate blood sugar and body constitution. This helps keep you healthy from disease and from constipation. The plants grow the best in desert and tropical climates, and you can buy some in your local grocery store.
