Hello Blurters!!
Todays DOPE (Daily Original Photography Engagement) is about a walk I did in Franz Josef glacier yesterday. Franz is just a 20 minutes drive away from Fox Glacier, where I live in.
I went there with a friend, Florencia, to do groceries and to do the walk to the glacier. At the beginning of the walk we saw in a Road Conditions sign that we could only do half of the walk due to the river being quite high and therefore dangerous to cross. Still... we got close enough to the ice to see some of it and to get some great views of the valley.
Along the walk there were several signs that showed how the glacier has been retrieving throughout the years. It used to be a lot bigger and longer in distance, I mean A LOT. This is a little sad actually, since it must be global warming what makes it to shrink so fast.
We got to see a little waterfall which was really nice, some little streams and the river right there roaring like an angry beast. Its quite loud for a smallish river to be honest.
