One of the most beautiful sights on the banks of the Tagus River is certainly the Monument to the Discoveries or in Portuguese
The monument was conceived in 1939, but was destroyed in an explosion in 1943. Finally, from 1958 to 1960, a new monument was built that celebrates the Portuguese Age of Discovery (or "Age of Exploration") during the 15th and 16th centuries.
