Riverside Bridge crosses the Hoquiam River just a few blocks from my apartment. I frequent the riverbank in this area, both for my morning coffee breaks and when I walk around town for errands.
The bridge is iconic; it's often used to represent Hoquiam in its promotional materials. That's understandable, since it is unique looking and one of the most distinctive features of the Hoquiam cityscape.
I had never seen a bridge like this before moving here seven years ago. It is a vertical-lift bridge. The span of road between the two towers is raised in one piece, parallel to the horizon. It's quite something to see -- one of these days I'll have a good photo of that to share!
I took this photo in the summer of 2019, with my Canon ELPH 180.
