Redoubt Mountain

redoubt

Mount redoubt is one of the Volcanoes along the Aleutian Range. It is an active volcano, and I have seen it blow up and spew ash a couple of time.

I use to be of the opinion every post no matter the subject matter should have an image, I think with Blurt I need to rethink that. I am not a fan of taxes, and a builder, creator, or manufacturer tax I am really not a fan of.

I understand why the tax/fee to post. It is solely because of one account that was posting questionable images, and as a means to control spam.

I hope the next group of chain builders that decide to fork steem or Hive, or Blurt will do so with a better starting list of users. First to be included in the airdrop and part of the start point if you are going to build a Social chain, then only those that were active Socially on the chain you are forking should be included.
Snap shot data that would be required to receive the airdrop:

  1. A post that is less than 30 days old.
  2. A comment that is less than 7 days old.
  3. A vote that is less than 24 hours old.
  4. A vote for more the 25% of the allowable witness selections.

All four of those requirements should be used as part of the airdrop if your goal is to build a Social block chain. If building a social block chain is not your goal then figure out what your goal is and airdrop only to them.

A centralized organization to run the day to day operations: the promotion, the building of and coordinating of hard forks, the on boarding of new users, a place for people to ask questions and get answers is not a bad thing. The decentralization of the witness and servers and node is a good thing.

To prevent a witness take over a few things need to be done.

  1. Witness votes need have a set time frame, ie: 13 Months. This gives the witness one year safety blanket and makes the vote caster think about who they are voting on.
  2. The number of witness an individual is allowed to vote for needs to be limited. Just because consensus says you need 17 of the top 20 witness to agree does not mean everyone should be allowed to vote for 20 or 30 or 40 witnesses. The maximum number of witness a person should be allowed to vote should be 13. I would prefer a smaller number such as 7 being the maximum.
  3. To cast a vote for a witness you need to have posted in the last 30 days, commented in the last seven days, and voted on another individuals content in the last 24 hours.

What those rules do is pretty much ensure there are no dead accounts voting for witnesses. That only socially active people are voting for witnesses. rule 3 is very easy to do, three days or even the day before you make a post, go to your feed and vote on a random post, and leave a random comment. Not a hard or time consuming thing to do.

If a witness wants to continue to be a witness then they can send out a reminder notice to the people that vote for them at the twelve month mark that their witness vote will be expiring and that they would like to be reconsidered for a re-vote. At the thirteenth month and three days point a reminder would be sent to the individual that had voted for a witness that their vote witness vote has expired with out mentioning of who the previous witness was they voted for, and how many witness they are currently allowed to vote for.

So next time a "Social Block Chain" is considered by someone I hope they will take some time to see who are the social account holders, and what makes an account holder a social account.
