Soap Bubble Photography Opens Up New Dimensions

in photography •  4 years ago

Being that I am now furloughed from work I thought it best to occupy myself with something other than the T.V. For a while now my camera has been gathering dust after being overshadowed by my new drone, however, the UK weather right now is pretty dismal and finding opportunities to fly my drone is becoming few and far between. So, like a fat kid on the substitute bench, I pick out my camera to fill the void...

After looking into droplet photography and finding out I would have to splash out over £150 to get the results I'd seen in a recent post by @beautifulbullies I decided to find a different photography challenge. After sifting through the suggested videos on Youtube, I came across something called "Bubble Photography" which looked quite interesting. Unlike droplet photography, this technique only required very basic equipment (all of which I had), and the results you could achieve looked pretty impressive.

Once I'd set up the kit and began playing around with all the different variations of liquids, camera settings, lighting, and lenses, I actually surprised myself and managed to capture some great images. It wasn't long before I started really enjoying myself, which led me to the use of some interesting props...

I took so many photos it's quite hard to choose a favourite. Every image has its own unique qualities and I would certainly recommend giving this a go. So which image is your favourite? I'd love to know...

I did intend to do a video tutorial but then I remembered that my microphone on my phone doesn't work very well. Instead, I have listed the items you will need below and I have also left a link to the Youtube tutorial that I found most helpful.

If you would like to give this a go all you'll need is the following;

  • A camera(obviously)
  • A macro lens or an extension tube fitted to any basic lens(50mm or above worked best for me)
  • A soft light
  • Fairy Liquid
  • Water
  • Bowl
  • Sugar/Syrup/Honey/Glycerine
  • Straw
  • A black surface to use for background (I used a blanket)

video channel (please subscribe, this guy has some great idea!)

I hope you have found this post interesting. If so, give it an upvote or reblog it so others can enjoy it too! Thanks for stopping by.

So glad I was able to talk you into coming over. Thank you :)

Please make an introduction post, and make the first tag you use helloblurt. They really roll the welcome wagon out when you do I've noticed. I'm still learning the ropes here, and it seems much changes daily as far as frotn ends going down and such. I believe going forward (until the switch to Cosmos from graphene) Blurtter.com is the access for both posting and wallets.

So glad you're here. :)

So this is where you've been all this time ;) Thank you for the tip-off. When I posted this I did think I should do an introduction post being that it's a different chain. I'll make sure to write one out tomorrow. Thanks for the advice and I hope you are doing well.
P.S. I tried to edit my profile and add a profile image but it wouldn't upload, do you have any idea why?

So this is where you've been all this time

No, I actually have only been here 16 days. I stopped posting there after I made the post naming you as beneficiary to try to help with the family court issues your sister was having. It got flagged down about 2/3rds of the rewards by the most toxic whale there and I said enough. Tired of all the fighting and bickering that goes on over there as many with large stakes forget they put their pants on like everyone else. The deflation I felt after he took away that bit of help everyone had come together on my post was the final straw.

Unlike others, I didn't bitch and moan, didn't allow him to control me through anger. I began my power down, supporting those like yourself I care for until it was done and quietly left. No more posts (until recently to mention Blurt), few comments. Life's to short for that. There's a good vibe here, although not much in the way of conspiracy like there.

I'm doing well, thank you. I was so ecstatic to read recently when I was over there that the family court issue had been successfully resolved. So glad I went back there to post and looked you up (scrolling through your posts).

There have been many issues lately. I'm about to mention some of them now in a post I just finished writing about my first 16 days here. I'm still ignorant on a lot, but it should help fill in some of the issues we are seeing like profile image. I noticed mine was missing last night and inquired on Blurtter account here and its fixed now. You might keep checking back, if not look for their account in my comment section and ask them. They might not be timely getting back as I still haven't heard directly. But they fixed my issues regarding the profile pic I already had overnight. Their extremely busy right now.

I can't express enough how glad I am you're here.

I see your point and if I'd have been aware of such flagging I'd have certainly spoke out against it. I try to ignore all the bullshit that goes on at the top because when I do see it it gets me frustrated. It's quite hypocritical of them really and it certainly goes unchecked, although they pretend to scald these people behind the scenes. Anyway, like you say, it isn't worth the negative energy so I won't carry on my rant.
Thank you for your support and I wish I could say my sister's case is over but it isn't. The scumbag father appealed against the ruling which means my niece is still in care and we have to wait for another hearing. I really don't think he'll get anywhere with his appeal and hopefully he'll be arrested shortly after and my sister will get her daughter back so they can start rebuilding their lives.

So, blurtter(or is it blurt?) looks an interesting place and I'm excited about the upcoming upgrade. Hopefully, they can make it look a little more unique but maybe this place has different frontends that offer that already. Nonetheless, I'm happy to be part of another blockchain community.
It's good to be back in touch with you, buddy.

if I'd have been aware of such flagging I'd have certainly spoke out against it.

It's pointless really. The whale I mention has driven many off who spoke out, even managing to nail FTG who has done much good for the chain over the years in curating and gifts to the community. This whale thrives on people losing their minds and speaking to him from a position of powerlessness.

Best to just shake the dust of such areas from ones feet and move on where the energy is healthy.

Sorry to hear your sister is still being put through the ringer. Moreso that your niece is. Its always the kids that suffer the most. Most unfortunate that your niece is learning at such a young age to distrust those who are in authority positions. Not that one shouldn't learn this, but kids should have some time to be worry free and grow into themselves more naturally without fear being so prevalent.

Hopefully, they can make it look a little more unique but maybe this place has different frontends that offer that already.

The goal Jacob has here is vast. You can read more on my understanding of it on a post I did yesterday on my observations. My view is still far from complete. Make sure to read the comment section as well, as Jacob did comment on my post. He is co founder of Blurt and his vision is bold.
