Historical Photography ~ The Stone Goddess "Nike" of Ephesus

in photography •  3 years ago

I'm still having massive issues trying to upload photos, so I am simply Re-Posting this article from several days ago. As I need to recover at least some of my lost rewards, due to the past Blurt "Hard Fork" failure.

This is a very interesting factual story about the famous symbolic image below.

The Goddess Nike ✅ ~ My Special Monochrome Photo Challenge.

Today, I will teach you an interesting Historical fact about where the famous Trainer manufacturer NIKE got the idea for their LOGO √

Yes! The famous TICK symbol & name comes from the Greek Goddess NIKE depicted below carved in stone and displayed on the grassland of Ephesus in Turkey.

So I guess it won't surprise you that "Nike" is also ancient Greek for the word "Victory", which is exactly what every Sportsperson wants to achieve more than anything.

The ancient ruins of Ephesus is truly a spectacular place that I visited many years ago with fascinating Greek history.

The Photo below was shot with my old Sony DSC-W17 Camera 📷
