I passed this pair of glass recycling bins on my daily walk.
Personally, I prefer recycling stations to curb side pick up. The ideal station would simply include lines of bins for each type of recyclable materials. I believe the act of actually sorting and placing recyclables makes people think more about their consumption.
It also increases the value of the recycled materials. For example white bond fetches significantly more money than mixed paper.
Stryrofoam has value when it is separated at the source. The problem is that it contaminates other plastics which is why we send it to the landfill.
Different metals have different values. Copper and aluminum fetch a fair penny. There is value in our waste stream.
As for the Walk
I've been averaging over 10K steps a day ... although I've missed my goal on two wet and gloomy days so far. This is the map of today's walk. The picture at the top of the page is Mt Olympus which is seen from Salt Lake City.
