"Man is a rather irrational rational animal."

I think it was in Seneca's writing that I read that man is a rational animal, which led me to a similar sentence from Aristotle's Politics book.

Something that has always caught the attention of my species is that in reality we are very impulsive, violent, spiteful, passionate, passionate, romantic creatures and, in general, very given to feelings and sensations, so where is the question that we are a rational species?

It is not a recent problem, but if it is something that I find fascinating, after all, I consider that humans are users of reason, but we are not entirely rational, in fact, most of the time we use reason rather to try to rationalize and justify our irrational behaviors and choices, in order to give ourselves a veneer of reason and convince other people, or even convince ourselves that what we did was reasonable, no matter how crazy or stupid our actions may have turned out.

I suppose it is a common problem for all of humanity, we try to deny that we are animals with the ability to reason, but that they do not have precisely the tendency to reason all the time, so most of the time our actions, words and choices are irrational.
