Philately (/fɪˈlætəli/; fih-LAT-ə-lee) is the study of postage stamps and postal history. It also refers to the collection and appreciation of stamps and other philatelic products. While closely associated with stamp collecting and the study of postage, it is possible to be a philatelist without owning any stamps. For instance, the stamps being studied may be very rare or reside only in museums. According to The Postal Museum:

"Stamp collecting is a fun and addictive hobby that explores history, geography, art and politics. It can be a therapeutic activity or an opportunity to meet likeminded people and join clubs and societies (List of UK Societies and Federations: https://www.abps.org.uk/societies-federations/).

Stamp collecting is also a great hobby to encourage your children to be a part of (Stamp Active:https://www.stampactive.co.uk/ ). It’s an activity away from technology that can connect children to the older generation, who may have also collected when they were younger."
