Investigating the matter of raising ducks, the cage is one of the main components that should not be forgotten. Having a function as a shelter for ducks from unfavorable weather and predators, the cage is also useful as a place for ducks to breed.

Basically, Pekingese is a type of duck that is superior as a meat-producing animal with a short growth period. That is, it can be harvested when it reaches 40 to 45 days of age with a weight of around 1.5 to 3 kg per head.

Even so with this type of hybrid duck which has the same harvest period as Peking, which is 40 to 45 days. But, can hybrid ducks lay eggs like Pekingese? Of course, I can! This type of duck is known as a dual-function animal, meaning it can be used as a broiler and as a laying duck.

How long does it take ducks to lay eggs?

Pekingese eggs are generally intended for hatching. This is because this type of duck is more dominant to broiler ducks. The method of raising broiler ducks is the same as other laying ducks. The only difference between the two is the eggs that will be hatched and consumed.

The Peking ducks will usually start laying eggs when they enter the age of the month. And its productivity is also no less when compared to special laying hens.

If it is estimated, in 1 year a duck can produce as many as 250 to 270 eggs. Apart from Pekingese, hybrid ducks can also start laying eggs when they reach 6 months of age.

Maybe some people will ask this, is it possible that Pekingese can incubate its own eggs? In fact, this type of duck cannot incubate its eggs.

So that in order to hatch, these duck eggs need to be put into an incubator or combined with eggs from chickens or ducks that are incubating. Usually, the hatching period for these ducklings will last for 28 to 35 days.

For breeders who want hybrid and Pekingese duck eggs to be hatched, the use of an incubator can be used as an alternative.

Apart from not being able to incubate the eggs themselves, a process like this is done so that the ducks can focus more on the process of laying eggs. So the number of eggs to be produced is also high.
