The bearer of these timeless tidings remains to this day a respected and cherished figure. But are we heeding his most dire warning against total war?
Peace is so important, but unfortunately war is big business. As a pacifist, I understand that if a war breaks out my kids might have to go. Our leaders are sick and want to fight but most people just want peace.
Good point - peace is very inexpensive! That's why it can't be allowed in the current model of never-ending greed. It reminds me how we know that there are some very cheap cures for cancer, but chemotherapy and radiation are a trillion dollar business so they will be suppressed at all costs. Like peace!

As long as humans will roam this planet, there will be NO peace, maybe just a temporary peace, but nothing long-term!
The speech does not call for absolute peace, or uninterrupted peace, or permanent peace, knowing these things are unrealistic when billions of humans are involved. That's one of the things that makes it such an incredible message, and why it is one of the most famous speeches of all time. The whole 27 minutes is gold!
