OUT RUN - SEGA - MEGA DRIVE REVIEW

in outrun •  4 months ago  (edited)

Out Run is a racing game for Mega Drive, among other systems, published by Sega in 1991.

Win a race against the clock crossing all kinds of places. From sunny beaches to steep mountain passes, passing through inhospitable deserts. You are going to compete with a multitude of rivals, all of them eager to reach the finish line before you.

You are a driver with nerves of steel, you own a wonderful convertible red Ferrari Testarossa, and you have a beautiful but implacable blonde as your co-driver. Feel the breeze on your skin and turn on your car radio, nothing can go wrong.

We drive a real racing car, with which we can reach speeds of up to 293 km/h. We can accelerate or brake, turn left or right, and manage the engine's revolutions with a two-speed gearbox.

The aim of the game is to reach the finish line by completing a total of five stages. There is a time limit to complete each stage, which cannot be accumulated in the following stage.

After each stage, a fork in the road will appear before us, and depending on the direction we choose, it will take us to different scenarios. Each one has specific characteristics that require different driving styles.

The road is of variable width and has several lanes with changes in elevation, as well as more or less sharp curves that will make our sports car skid. We will also find different obstacles on each side of the road, such as trees, rocks or advertising signs. We must avoid colliding with them at all costs.

Our opponents drive cars of different models, even trucks, but none of them are as fast as us. A brush with an opponent will make us skid and even spin, and if they push us off the road we will end up rolling over several times.
