Which interface respects freedom of speech?

in omg •  3 years ago

Calm down everyone, these stupid ideas about restricting free speech are only being introduced at the interface level. If @lucyreloaded (or any other account) is added to the blacklist for that reason then my upvotes will be limited to posts published only from interfaces that show posts without any warnings (no COAL, no other blacklists)

Instead of complaining create your own interface! I will support it

Hi @ctime, you're part of the reason why most accounts are still active here on blurt.
I'll still want to enjoy your company, let Everything be resolved amicably.

I think freedom of speech is paramount and shouldn't be infringed in any way, so far they're within the jurisdiction of the platform.

Interfaces cost $$$ to run. Can't always be running from one to the next can we? If only it was simple to just run a blurt node on your own laptop and rely on that for everything, like the way bitcoin is.

I found out something weird about COAL. You can't tell why they got blacklisted on the interfaces. Look at this post: https://blurt.blog/earthview/@isnochys/sun-setting-on-monument-valley-ut--oc-5701x3207-20220521t182012z. Nothing tells why they are blacklisted. For all I know they just weren't liked by one person.

If you hover your mouse cursor on the red triangle, there is a popup that says the reason for the user being included in COAL.

I tried that. Wonder if it's broken on my browser. I'm using Chrome v101 on Mac OS 12.13.1. What interface are you using?

I'm using Brave V1.38.119 on Mac OS 11.6.

The code might need to be tweaked so that it works correctly on more browsers. The code was written over a year ago (September of 2020) by a dev who no longer works on Blurt.

I don't like the blurt.one thing it adds to posts, otherwise I'd say we should use it. Especially since it adds costs.
