Caring for our old loved ones

You may have heard phrases like "you kind of become a kid again as you get older" or "there are a lot of similarities between childhood and old age" or variations on these statements. This is due to the fact that you rely on other people to complete tasks at all phases of life. When you're young, your parents are your entire world. They provide for everything of your requirements, including food, clothing, and loving care as you grow up. Like thus, you become reliant on other people when you get older because your body no longer has the same strength and endurance that it did when you were younger.

To be honest, growing older in this day and age is not exactly easy. Given the course of modern life, nobody enjoys or looks forward to that phase of life. It's also possible that you've heard that today's world belongs to the youth. Whether it's in terms of employment or anything.

Undoubtedly, one of the most important phases of a person's life is old age. The "age of problems" is upon us, whether they be economic, mental, physical, or societal. Furthermore, there are some worries and even alarms raised by the way that today's youth approach the elderly. We often send them off to an elderly home to wait for the Lord to call just when they are most in need of our love, care, and patience.

The commercial and often self-centered aspect of modern life has changed many things, including how much attention is placed on families. In the past, family members who were elderly were not only respected but also held in high regard. They used to be well-cared for and could enjoy a peaceful, comfortable life, especially as they reached that age of reliance on their offspring and young ones.

Unfortunately, for most of us, that is not the case at all these days. At best, our elderly are a burden, and we either reluctantly take care of them or merely get them placed in an assisted living facility.

Do you believe this is where it ends? Even more upsetting is the fact that parents go above and beyond to give their kids the greatest care and resources within their means. Their children are not even considered a burden by them. Nevertheless, when their parents are most in need of them, those same kids abandon them. These same children are unable to give their parents even a small amount of space in their home so that they can get a good night's sleep, even though the parents may have spent many sleepless nights tending to their small children, changing their diapers, and singing endless lullabies to them in the early hours of the morning to put them to sleep.
