This is why you don’t want a gas powered generator

in offgridlife •  2 years ago  (edited)

We are getting really wicked wind storms, hurricanes and tornadoes here in Canada.

Hydro poles are snapping like twigs, the Electrical power grid goes down and thousands of people are left trying to figure out how to get power to their homes.

Suddenly everyone has a gas powered generator.

The problem is that when the gas station lose power you cannot pump gas or at least they don’t seem to have a back up power system or a way for people to pay ? No Internet ?

Not sure ….

The other problem is that as soon as people can get gas the gas stations run out.

I think some of the solar back up power generators are a better option. As long as you have sun. But you can also run them with dynamo.

I think this is a better option … especially for keeping your food cold.

We make ice the 1st day …then the 12 volt DC cooler can act like an ice box during the night.

Yeah… I have been waiting for prices on panels and batteries to drop… got tired of waiting so I finally splurged and bought this Jackery Explorer 240 watt solar charger and 100 watt panel this summer.

Works great for all my power needs. https://amzn.to/3fjQhoq
