The state of the nation; Nigeria, is a funny one as it stands. As funny as it is, it is also annoying, pitiful and sad. Don’t get me wrong, no country is perfect, no nation has it all together, they need to learn more as they make more mistakes, but what annoys me about the state of Nigeria is, we are not learning from any mistake and we know what to do, yet we don’t do it.
Our politicians have now turned comedians and all they do is entertain us, siphon money and wear a customised outfit. They act unbothered and they have blocked their ears to the cries of the people who elected them there. You need to see a lot of them de-camping. They speak as though they have no conscience. They are not even considerate to the state of the masses.
Our leaders are not the ones you can give feedback to. It is a total waste of time. They travel out and see how other systems of governments are being run and also what they can do in terms of infrastructure and development but they would never do it. They are focused on campaigns, stomach infrastructure and also “politics”. It is hard for you to see continuity in projects in some certain states. They just want to do things to make a name for themselves at least and you see them embarking on a 4-year project only on their 3rd year in office, so we can re-elect them again to continue and after re-election, that project becomes an abandoned one.
We have a good expanse of land. We are so blessed with good weather conditions and land for agriculture, yet these lands lie fallow and they are in a perpetual state of rest. It breaks my heart. A young vibrant person can’t be helped yet these old people walk around in big outfits, bulletproof cars and a lot of unnecessary securities, which is a waste of human resources and money. Well, they needed that much security because they know what they are doing. They already know their ways are not pure, so they needed to guide and guard themselves. What a shame!.
Our leaders know nothing about serving. They are here only for themselves. The future is for the youth? Well, these old folks have been ruling since I came into the world and I am have been around for a while. They are still the same set of people around. They leave, come back, leave and also come back in another capacity of government. We see these patterns and yet they put so much poverty in the country, so people can be under subjection. They curb most people with prevalent poverty. They used to say when you are going out to fight for freedom, you don’t wear your best shirt. Well, most people don’t even have the energy to protest because they have nothing in their tummy.
