The administration of the United States of America (USA) has put 11 people, including Hong Kong Chief Executive Carrie Lam, on the sanctions list.
In a written statement made by the US Treasury Department, it was emphasized that 11 people were placed on the sanction list on the grounds that "they undermine the autonomy of Hong Kong and restrict the freedom of expression and assembly of the Hong Kong people".
Those included in the sanctions list include Hong Kong Chief Executive Carrie Lam, Hong Kong Police Force Commissioner Chris Tang Ping-keung, Hong Kong's former Police Chief Stephen Lo Wai-chung, and some Hong Kong top executives.
As part of the sanctions, their assets in the US were seized, while those in the US were also prohibited from doing business with them.
