One thing I learned from living at mexico is the mexico provides much of the steel structures that are built in the usa. Includes also auto parts for china and usa.

I know some U.S. car makers build some of their cars in Mexico and Canada. The Ford Focus I used to own was built in Mexico.
Ford, Chevy, nissan are highly popular here. And recommended actually. Toyotas too are nice. The roads here are terrible and nice too for a while, but they come with surprise bumps and holes.
