A brutal road accident in our campus.

A student of the Faculty of Fine Arts of the Rajshahi University was brutally killed in a truck accident inside the campus today. The deceased was identified as Mahbub Habib Himel, a student of Faculty of Fine Arts, 2016-17 academic year. Himel's head fell off the truck's wheels at the time of the accident and his head was severed from his body. The truck was carrying stones for the construction of a 20-storey academic building under the university's development project. And at 9pm tonight, a total of three students, including Himel, got into an accident while crossing the truck on a bike. Student Mahbub Habib Himel died on the spot. The other two students were rushed to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital with serious injuries. There, a student named Riyadh died shortly afterwards and another student, Mahin, is still alive, but had to have one of his legs amputated through surgery.

Excited students set fire to five truck inside the university. Although the university administration has been repeatedly informed about the safety of the students' complaints, they have not taken any effective action in this regard. And it is very sad that the teachers and administrative officers of the university who are sitting as the guardians of the students of the university are very indifferent about the safety of the students. As a result, the number of thefts, robberies and road accidents has increased in the last two to three years.

Personally, I and Mahbub Habib Himel Bhai who were killed in the accident are very well known. We are both residential students of Shaheed Shamsuzzoha Hall of the University. I had a beautiful relationship with him. Brother Himel used to stay in room just after mine. Whenever he saw her, he would always ask her with a smile, "How is Ibrahim?" I was coming to my own hall from Station Bazaar in front of Suhrawardy Hall after having breakfast this morning. As soon as he met me then, he asked the same question as always. Himel Bhai is one of the few brothers in my hall who always smiled at me. In the evening I also saw my roommate sitting and drinking tea. It is very difficult to bear such an injury.
