The storms rolled through last night and at first looked really nasty. Then, they just lost it. One nasty large cell, headed my way, just broke up into smaller cells. We had thunderstorms and that's it. No tornados. No damaging winds. No car damaging hail. Just normal thunderstorms. Power of prayer?
I know my mother was praying for us. Thanks to all of you who did as well.
I'm glad everything spread out for you. I know it's been a real worry for you since moving.
My observation from childhood in a state that had lots of tornadoes. They seem to stay in certain tracks, which the powers farming us understand. Which is why they (in my childhood) always seemed to destroy lots of mobile home parks.
If you have a basement, make sure you have plenty of tools and supplies and on the rare chance one deviates from the tracks I mentioned, you should be fine. Maybe make a project to reinforce some of the basement to better withstand the weight of falling house in worst case scenario.
I have the basement prepped with items just in case we get trapped down there for days. There is a corner where we should be fine if the worst were to ever happen. I make sure we have things for warmth, water, food, lighting, etc in that area.
I have lived here for years. Never had a year like this one.
Yikes, time warp here. I remember you moving and hadn't realized it was so long ago, hah hah.
Well, I did move....across town early this year. I have lived in this town for about 5 years and lived near Des Moines for 3 or 4. So I have moved twice since being in Iowa. So you remember right. I moved here from Upstate NY about 8 years ago. Maybe nine 9. LOL. Time does fly. So, I have lived in central Iowa for a total of 8 or nine years I think.
