Coinbase Adds Compound to Its 'Learn & Earn' Program

Coinbase, the largest crypto exchange in the U.S., offers Compound (COMP) token rewards for users to learn about the governance protocol. In a blog post released on Wednesday, Coinbase Earn, the learning wing of the exchange, announced users could start earning COMP rewards by “watching videos and completing quizzes about the Compound protocol and its governance token, COMP.” Coinbase Earn launched in 2018, offering users an opportunity to learn while stacking up cryptocurrencies in rewards. Bitcoin’s Long-Awaited Taproot Update Is Step Closer To Fruition

Bitcoin’s long-awaited Taproot update is one step closer to fruition. The codebase for the smart-contract upgrade to Bitcoin’s blockchain has been merged into the Bitcoin Core library. Now that Taproot’s code has been included in Bitcoin Core’s coding library, the upgrade is only waiting to be deployed at this point. This could take weeks or months, depending on how the review process unfolds. Taproot would implement Schnorr signatures into Bitcoin, a cryptographic technique for signing transactions that would enable Bitcoin with more flexible and private smart contracts. One of Vietnam's Largest Banks OCB Joins RippleNet

Orient Commercial Joint Stock Bank (OCB), one of the largest Vietnamese banks with $4.6 bln worth of assets under management, has joined the RippleNet network as a “strategic partner,” according to a LinkedIn post made by its head of fintech and project management Phong Nguyen. Nguyen says that Ripple’s technology will help to cut down the cost of cross-border payments and remittances while simultaneously increasing their speed and transparency. Read Full on U.Today

Bakkt Sees Spike In Institutional Demand For BTC

Data from Arcane Research shows Bakkt Bitcoin exchange saw another record-high month from Sept. 20 to Oct. 20. This follows a noticeable rise in institutional demand for Bitcoin (BTC) from public companies in recent months. According to the analysts at Arcane Research, 400 BTC contracts are set to expire in October at Bakkt. Month-over-month, the data shows a 14% jump from September. When the volume of the Bakkt Bitcoin futures market increases, which physically settles Bitcoin contracts, it typically demonstrates growth in institutional appetite crypto. Agriculture Giants Will Use Blockchain To Track Grains In Brazil

The world's largest grains and oilseeds companies, American giants Bunge and Cargill, have joined together to create the joint venture Covantis, which will use blockchain technology in the agricultural sector in Brazil. Together the companies that make up Covantis move around 550 million tons of grains and oilseeds every year. The goal of the partnership is to unify the sector's data and facilitate communication between all participants, improving the logistics processes at the ports, among other things, all using blockchain. Chainlink Now Allows You To Control Your Tesla Car

An external adapter that allows getting access to Tesla cars and change their state has become available on the Chainlink market. Developed by blockchain/DLT architect Harry Papacharissiou dubbed “Link My Ride,” was created with the help of Tesla’s feature-rich API that allows interacting with the e-car manufacturer’s vehicles and other devices such as Powerwall batteries. The adapter supports such API calls as authentication, locking/unlocking the vehicle, and honking the horn. Around 20 API endpoints are yet to be added. Read Full on U.Today

Ripple Donate $10 Million To Mercy Corps For Accelerating Financial Inclusion

Ripple, the U.S.-based currency exchange and remittance network, announced that it has donated $10 million to Mercy Corps to “expand financial inclusion and increase economic empowerment globally.” Ripple, through a non-profit unit, works with non-government organizations, universities and industry partners to “bring the 1.7 billion unbanked adults into a modernized, global financial system that leverages the promise of financial technology,” the company said.
