Deutsche Bank Says CBDC Will Replace Cash

Central bank digital currencies (CBDCs) will replace cash in the long term, according to Deutsche Bank's research team. In its latest edition of the "Konzept" periodical, published Tuesday, the bank said the coronavirus pandemic has accelerated the use of digital payments over cash, and the trend will eventually lead to CBDCs taking over cash. According to Marion Laboure, a macro strategist at Deutsche Bank, CBDC developments will take time, countries should prioritize their digital payment systems in the meanwhile. Wyoming Senator-Elect Praises Bitcoin For Store Of Value on ABC News

Cynthia Lummis, the Senator-Elect of Wyoming, discussed Bitcoin on ABC News. She described the dominant cryptocurrency as a store of value, expressing optimism towards its finite supply. During a segment on ABC News, Lummis explained she anticipates Bitcoin to evolve into an important store of value in the long term. She stated she does hope to bring Bitcoin into the national conversation. She said as a former state treasurer she was always looking for a good store of value And Bitcoin fits that bill. New York Airport Pilots Microsoft's Blockchain Based Coronavirus Cleanliness App

Albany Airport has begun experimenting with the "Wellness Trace App" to track the cleanliness of surfaces and objects inside the airport. The app, built using the Microsoft Azure enterprise blockchain aims to provide a safe travel experience during and after the coronavirus pandemic. The app will provide travelers with information about the cleanliness of surfaces prior to travelers touching them in real-time. Grayscale Bought Another 15,114 Bitcoins

Grayscale, a digital assets management company, this week bought another 15,114 Bitcoin ($241 million), bringing the total number of Bitcoin the company owns to 506,000, or $8.1 billion. The company now manages a total of $10 billion worth of cryptocurrency. Grayscale is among the biggest purchasers of Bitcoin. Its total investments comprise 2.29% of Bitcoin’s entire market cap. Number of XRP Whales Continues to Grow

According to crypto analytics firm Santiment, the number of XRP holders that have anywhere between 100,000 and 1 mln tokens in their wallets has reached a new all-time high of 17,625. There are also 307 mega whales who hold over 10 mln tokens. While XRP is believed to have one of the largest levels of wealth inequality among large- and medium-cap cryptos, things appear to be gradually changing. Chainlink Community Grant program announced funding for a low-cost insurance collaboration between Etherisc, a decentralized insurance protocol, and ACRE Africa, a microinsurance issuer focused on the second-most populous continent on the planet. The project aims to build a blockchain-based insurance platform that delivers affordable coverage for the nearly 250,000 smallholder farmers in Kenya, many of whom are expected to be excessively affected by climate change over the next three years.
