Lebanon Is Preparing To Launch A Digital Currency In 2021

Lebanon’s central bank plans to launch a new digital currency in 2021 as part of a broader effort to combat a parallel economic and financial crisis that has engulfed the country. Lebanon's central bank governor Banque Du Liban Governor Riad Salameh told the CBDC project is part of a "regulatory mechanism" to restore confidence in Lebanon's troubled banking sector. Bitcoin Sees Rise In Number of Active Addresses

The number of active addresses on the Bitcoin blockchain hit 1.18 million yesterday, reaching similar heights to those seen during Bitcoin's 2017 bull run. As pointed out by Hans Hauge, head of quant strategy at Ikigai asset management, yesterday's spike was the seventh highest number of active addresses in Bitcoin's history. Blockchain Based Agri-Commodity Trading Platform Goes live

Blockchain-based agriculture trading platform Cerealia has announced its commercial launch. Aiming to facilitate trading of physical grains, Cerealia is focusing on the international market for Russia, the world's largest wheat supplier. The project has already undergone a series of trial transactions with participating companies from Japan, Dubai, Ukraine, Turkey, Algeria and Brazil, per the report. Ex-Australian Senator Admits Bitcoin Demand Is Getting Stronger

Bitcoin continues to find its way to the heart of mainstream politics across the world as Cory Bernardi, an Australian politician and former Senator recently said that he has became a bitcoin faithful in the last few years and he believes BTC demand is getting stronger as more corporations and institutional investors buy the digital asset as a primary reserve currency or hedge against financial crises. Microstrategy CEO: Bitcoin And Gold Can’t Be Complementary Investments

MicroStrategy CEO Michael Saylor advocated that comparisons between Bitcoin and gold may not be entirely accurate, and that the former may end up cannibalizing the latter. Saylor responding to a Substack post from Anthony Pompliano that he is agree with Pompliano, it is dangerous to think that Gold & Bitcoin are similar & complementary investments. Biden Appoints Crypto Focused Gary Gensler To Lead US Financial Policy Transition Team

Gary Gensler, Wall Street veteran who has closely studied the budding cryptocurrency field, will lead the financial policy transition team for projected U.S. President-elect Joe Biden. A former chairman of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), Gensler was tapped to lead the agency review team for the Federal Reserve, banking and securities regulators.
