Bitcoin Is My Best Investment Says Mexico's Second Richest Man
Ricardo Salinas Pliego, chairman at conglomerate Grupo Salinas and Mexicoâs second richest man, has revealed that he bought his first Bitcoin in 2013, when it was worth around $200. That, according to the billionaire, was his âbest investment everâ. After holding it all the way until its 2017 highs, he sold all his positions at $17,000 and bought it again later at a cheaper price. Russian Central Bank Says Digital Currencies May overtake Global Payment Network SWIFT
The development of digital currencies may challenge the SWIFT international banking payment system and could eventually make it redundant, the Central Bank of Russia (CBR) has said. The SWIFT system facilitates cross-border payments between 11,000 financial institutions in more than 200 countries worldwide. More than 30 financial regulators are currently working on their national digital currencies and several countries may launch it over the next 5-7 years, the official added. New Survey Finds That Around 20% Of Aussies Own Cryptocurrency
Cryptocurrency awareness and adoption continue to increase in Australia as nearly 20% of Aussies have reported owning at least one digital asset. The number of people who have heard of at least one cryptocurrency has skyrocketed by over 90% in a year to 91.4%. Somewhat expectedly, the first-ever crypto asset Bitcoin leads the market awareness with 89%. Binance Exchange Exceeded $3 Trillion Trading Volume In 2020
Binance reports total trading volume of over $3 trillion, with a daily figure of more than $52.6 billion in 2020. The trading volumes came from spot market, futures, options, margin trading and tokens with leverage. Asia and Europe were the major markets. Fiat pairs' largest trading volumes were currencies from United Kingdom, Europe, Russia and the CIS countries. The most popular crypto on the spot market were Bitcoin, Ethereum and XRP. Binance Exchange Incorporates SegWit For Faster and Cheaper Bitcoin Deposits
Binance exchange, incorporates Segregated Witness (SegWit), for Bitcoin deposits. Initially, SegWit was supported for just withdrawals. However, the SegWit support was extended to deposits on Christmas Eve. Binance users can deposit funds to a SegWit (bech32) address by selecting the BTC (SegWit) network. Data show that about two-thirds of Bitcoin payments currently use SegWit. SegWit should help reduce fees; but sending incompatible assets incorrectly will cause permanent loss of funds.
