Ethereum 2.0 Becomes The 4th-Largest Proof-of-stake Network In Six Weeks
Ethereum 2.0 has becomes the fourth-largest proof-of-stake network by total value locked in staking in six weeks since the Eth2 deposit contract going live. Even though withdrawal is disabled with no specific launch date in sight, almost $1 billion worth of Ethereum has been staked. Grayscale Bullish On Bitcoin As It Witnesses Six Times inflow of Investors
Grayscale witnesses six times the inflow from the largest institutional investors in the world compared to last year, according to Grayscale CEO. He said that these investors made bigger allocations for both medium and long term with a six-month lock-up period which is bullish for Bitcoin as Grayscale holds close to 570,000 Bitcoin, about 3% of cryptocurrencyâs total circulating supply. Venezuelans Cast Their Votes Using A Blockchain System
Over 6.5 million Venezuelans voted Juan Guiado, the opposition leader of Nicolas Maduro in Venezuela, using a pro-democracy blockchain system called Voatz. Voatz is integrated into the Telegram messaging app. Juan Guiado held this âunofficialâ referendum to decide on whether Maduro should resign from his position or remain in power. Barcelonaâs Pique Invests $4.3 Million In Fan Token Platform Sorare
Barcelona defender Gerard Piqué invests $4.3 million in Sorare, an Ethereum-based non-fungible token platform for digital soccer collectibles. Piqué will also join the Sorare as a strategic adviser. 10% Of Bitcoin Mined By Satoshi Hasnât Moved In Ten Years
According to Glassnode, about 10 percent of Bitcoin mined by Satoshi Nakomoto hasnât been moved in 10 or more years. Data from Glassnode shows that 1,857,721 Bitcoin has remained unmoved for over 10 years as of December 17. Since the pseudonymous Satoshi Nakomoto remains anonymous, the fate of these coins is uncertain at best. Scottish University Leverages Blockchain Startup to Track Fake Whiskies
Scottish Universities Environmental Research Centre (SUERC) at the University of Glasgow is leveraging blockchain provenance startup, e to deal with fraud in the Scottish whisky industry. SUERC believes that about 40% of vintage whiskies circulating in Scotland could be fake. SUERC will validate whisky provenance by producers, retailers, auction houses and collectors by using Everledger's anti-tamper bottle tags and blockchain platform to track rare whiskies.
