These quadcopter drones are being used to smuggle various types of weapons and drugs from Pakistan to India. The Punjab government today arrested two persons from Amritsar, India on the charge, a news release said.
The two arrested persons are Indians and Punjabis. The names of these two are Lakhbir Singh and Bachittar Singh. According to Punjab police sources, the two suspects have links with Pakistani arms and drug traffickers.
As a result, these two arrested persons from Punjab used to bring arms and drugs to India with the help of these quadcopter drones.
Punjab police also said that the terrorist group smuggling arms and drugs from Pakistan had links to Khalistan militants.
A drone, a revolver, an SUV, dozens of cartridges and drugs were recovered from the two suspects in Punjab, Punjab police authorities said.
The Punjab police chief said that after interrogating Lakhbir Singh, he confessed that he had bought a quadcopter drone from New Delhi four months ago and kept it at his friend Bachittar's house.
The police official further said that Lakhbir Singh was in touch with 4-5 drug traffickers. The two suspects are now lodged in Amritsar jail in Punjab.
