So after 2 years, a new bridge has been built in Majherhat. The bridge is about to open very quickly. Made completely different from the previous old bridge.
However, much attention is being paid to the health of this bridge so that it does not face any danger as before. A special type of sensor has been installed on the bridge to measure the weight of the bridge.
This sensor will alert you immediately if you feel overloaded when the car is moving through this bridge. The new bridge at Majherhat is modeled on the Vidyasagar Bridge, the second Hooghly Bridge.
The length of this bridge is about 650 meters. About 227 meters of the bridge is covered with metal cables. The bridge has been tested and found to be capable of carrying a maximum load of about 385 tons.
Under this bridge again a railway line has gone across a section of about 100 meters. The Public Works Department is of the view that once this bridge is commissioned, the traffic congestion on Diamond Harbor Road in Kolkata will be greatly reduced.
