Markets Are Inescapable Realities, Not Tools to Use When Convenient

Tucker Carlson recently argued that “market capitalism is a tool, like a staple gun or a toaster.” This assumption misses key realities about the nature of markets.

This is from an older article and not really a comment upon Tucker Carlson's recent departure from Fox. I used to watch Tucker Carlson every now and then and got the impression that he was, generally speaking, libertarian in his views. However, he has made a few comments over the years that speak to an anti-libertarian position and this was one of them.

In the comment above, he seems to take an anti-free market stance, dismissing markets as a tool to be used by central planners (as opposed to having free markets). This and other comments have made me skeptical of the way he generally presents himself on air. He seems to want to present himself as libertarian but in reality, if you listen to him long enough, comes across as a right-wing authoritarian.

As far as his recent departure and Fox's legal settlement is concerned, this appears to be more about information that Fox doesn't want to come to light should there be a trial vs. a reflection on whether Tucker Carlson would likely be found guilty or not.
