Between 2007 and 2017, nearly 1,700 people were murdered with a knife or sharp object per year. That’s almost four times the number of people murdered by an assailant with any sort of rifle. But what if we look at just AR-15 rifles?
But I suppose we shouldn't let facts get in the way of alarmism and tyranny. The numbers are even better once you consider the number of times such weapons are used in self defense or, more often, to deter a crime.
The fact of the matter is that a very large percent of gun related deaths are related to gang violence (look at Chicago for instance). However, banning legal ownership of weapons only makes those who would obey the law defenseless against armed thugs who couldn't care less. Talk of banning guns makes for good political theater but it doesn't address root cause. Unless guns are walking down the street shooting people then they are not the root cause of gun violence.
Some politician recently said that Open Carry laws lead to more deaths. Well, I live in Iowa. We are a constitutional carry state so is Arkansas. Where are all the deaths? There is a culture difference between Iowa and Arkansas and other states like Illinois and NY where there are large populated areas with moral decline. It's the people that are the problem, not the guns. Culture is the problem, not the guns.
The whole thing is nonsense. They want a compliant, helpless, dependent citizenry for their masters. That's it. They will use whatever it takes to get it too.
