End of the world? No. Exaggeration for political effect? Yes. AOC’s really doing nothing more than politics-as-usual.
It isn't that climate change is not occurring or is a hoax, it's that the issue has been so obscured by politics that the truth has become equally obscured. While human activity may be a component of climate change, it isn't the whole story. Nor do ridiculously exaggerated claims by people like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez resemble anything close to reality. In reality, comments like these are far more dangerous, to the extent they are believed, than any claims of climate change being a "hoax".
The problem is that many of the laws proposed in the name of saving the planet do more harm than good. Sure, some science certainly suggests that humans may be contributing to climate change. But how many of these laws are actually analyzed for their ultimate effects and are based on solid science? Beware the unintended consequences of politically motivated laws made in the name of saving the Earth.
