Russia is a magnificent place with its rich heritage, though short compared to the warmer civilizations to its south, the Russian culture is rife with fairy tales, this spread across all aspects of life and life stages including geopolitics, the last of which is the Syrian episode.
No wonder why Russians have to pay hefty prices each time there's a conflict, they are, as the custom says: Russians are slow to harness, but quick to ride, in other words: they keep getting it wrong until they receive the awakening slap then the bear smashes everything on its way to salvage what it doesn't smash.
Stefan Heuer, a German historian and educator of a high caliber uses an article by a Kremlin stenographer to demonstrate the above and dismantle the argument that is widely now being promoted by the apologists for the Russian failure in Syria to put the blame on the Syrian President Bashar Al Assad, the sole leader who was loyal to his country and the cause and who defended Russia in Syria for over 13.5 years while the Russians were playing a grand chess game which of course, they lost.
In his article for Syria News, Mr. Heuer explains how the article shared by the state Russian news agency TASS is a hollow agreement used to package the betrayal of the Russian leadership of Syria trying to win a deal with its 'Western partners' as the Russian leadership likes to repeat.
I'll leave you with the latest by Stefan Heuer: Fairy Tales from Moscow.
