NVIDIA will soon launch the RTX 3080 Ti and the whole line-up will soon receive revised Ampere GPUs limited for mining ETH. The new GPUs will be present on all the video cards in the RTX 30 line-up, while the already sold ones will remain unaffected.
Igor Lab found out with the help of sources from video card manufacturers, that the initial lot of RTX 3080 Ti based on GA102-225-A1 wasn't fully limited on mining. The GPU in it's current state is still capable of producing a full performance of the hashing rate with the 470.05 BETA driver.
To combat this thing, NVIDIA has presented a new Ampere GPU, which will be known under the name GA102-22 * -A1. The new GPU is already in production and no existent driver will work with it, but the 3080 TI is not the only driver that will use the new GPU, the whole line up will:
- NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 – GA102-300-A1 -> GA102-302-A1
- NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 – GA102-200-A1 -> GA102-202-A1
- NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 – GA104-300-A1 -> GA104-302-A1
- NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 Ti – GA104-200-A1 -> GA104-202-A1
- NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 – GA106-300-A1 -> GA106-302-A1
