What can you do when your country has become an embarrassment?

in new •  2 years ago  (edited)

We have a "prime minister" who is a cocaine snorting psycho horse faced tranny, and yesterday some tard flew all the way to London on a big jet plane in order to protest the use of oil. We are in danger of becoming an international laughing stock.

But New Zealand was awesome once! There was stuff like this: Not many people outside of Aus & NZ will remember now but back in 1980 we had one of the coolest bands in the world - a sort of down-under answer to The Beatles - SPLIT ENZ really were awesome - and their album True Colours is a classic.

"Best known for their early-'80s new wave pop hits, particularly "I Got You," Split Enz -- after surviving a dizzying array of image and personnel changes and a full decade without any recognition outside of their homeland -- became the first New Zealand band to achieve worldwide success. Although they never reached superstar status outside of Australia and New Zealand, the band developed a strong international cult following that continued to thrive over a decade after their breakup. Split Enz's output always seemed slightly outside of the times and often frustratingly obscure, but in the end, they left behind a body of work that was always interesting and often reached pure pop brilliance"

Canada and Australia are trying hard too, but for a small country we can really do some horseshit!

Noticed a pattern? They're all 'commonwealth' countries. The most embarrassing ones. Wait til king charlie gets started with his 'sustainable' crap.

The country i originate from had some world fame with music ,.. before the 80ths .
Little green bag , radar love and more ,. but during the 80ths we all listened to this song ,. and we all thought that we would never leave this fantastic place . Our amazing free country , life was good .

It's the only version i found with good subs ,. for the language is dutch .
Where in this version the original writer is singing the song with the band he wrote it for back in the 80th's .
Doe maar ,...translated ,. go ahead .
Liked this one as i didn't get exited by all there other work , to hyped ,
so i took it for the propaganda it was , and put up some real sounds
from the prophet Marley .

The country turned to a oppressed shit-hole wef central test ground .
Leaving ain't easy ,. but sometimes the only option .

I know some of those Split Enz tracks ,. like i heard them somewhere before .
I hope i never ,.. ;-)
