Rebel Moon - Part One: A Child of Fire

Towards the end of 2023 I could observe an increase in sci-fi movies, but I didn't have enough time to watch them all. So some of them were left for the first days of 2024. Rebel Moon - Part One: A Child of Fire was just one of the productions in this category.

I had the opportunity to watch the movie, which was released towards the end of the year with the Netfilix co-production, in the first week of 2024. As a sci-fi fan, my first thoughts about the movie are that it is not enough and not satisfying in terms of sci-fi, but when I think that this is the birth of a story, I don't feel like criticizing it too much.

Although I quite liked the fictional aspect of the story, the way it was handled and the deliberate disconnections raised some questions during the viewing. The fact that the plot, which was handled in pieces, could not be integrated towards the end of the movie is seen as the biggest disadvantage because the expectation was that the big picture would unify the story.

Although the movie is more than two hours long, I had the feeling that the time was not enough and it was suddenly cut by someone saying that the time was up. I had the funny idea that the director couldn't express himself and what he wanted to do throughout the duration of the movie.

Nevertheless, it is worth mentioning that the movie is the beginning of the Rebel Moon series. Expectations and the unifying element of the story may be left for the next production. In fact, if similar gaps and confusion for the story continue in the next production, the end of the series may come early.

For my part, I think it would be better to wait for the next production instead of being pessimistic. Rebel Moon - Part One: A Child of Fire, I believe that all the shortcomings and the unifying element of the movie will be eliminated with the next movie.

What narrowed the spectrum and left the story in a vacuum was the final scenes of betrayal towards the end of the movie. It would have been better if the movie had ended there, after the gathering of the team to stage the resistance and uprising, instead of being betrayed, and the war would have been left to the next production in a more comprehensive way.

Anyway, when we wait a bit and watch the second production, everything will become clearer and we will realize that the criticisms made today are unwarranted, or vice versa. In order not to miss the beginning of the story, Rebel Moon - Part One: A Child of Fire, which was very successful in terms of setting and costumes.

In some scenes I find it hard not to say that it reminded me of Star Wars. I think this feeling will occur in everyone who watches the movie, but I must admit that I say this in a positive sense, not in a bad sense. Maybe it will be as long-lasting as that.
