It Finally Rained in Dubai

We had our first real rain this 'winter' in Dubai yesterday with a very thick cloud formation coming from the seaside, the west, toward the land, it didn't last long.

As much the rain is exciting in a desert region, in Dubai after last years flash floods it still brings anxiety to some people, yesterday's limited showers are not an exception although the metrologists stated it will not be anywhere near the rain of April, last year.

I had a trip to the heart of the city, a 30 minutes drive from where I reside, before leaving house, it was apparent that there will be rain so I collected the almost dry cloth from the hangers in the courtyard and moved the hangers with the rest of the cloth to the covered area of the garage.

Rain started appearing as I was passing by Business Bay on the Al Khail artery, with little dots appearing on the front window, it was not enough to trigger the automatic window wipers until I moved further toward the Oud Metha area where it really rained.

Throughout the trip heading to my destination in the before noon time, there were roads with no sign of rain at all, including my house which I learned from my family that it didn't rain and only stronger wind was there, other roads with light rain, then some roads that already started forming small ponds on the sides, a not good signal if it continued which it didn't and just about 5 kilometers from those little ponds formation under the heavy rain, there was not a sign of a single drop!

Needless to say that the spectacular of the city's residences is confusing, some people wearing light clothes, I was wearing a T-shirt and a jeans, while others were wearing heavy winter clothes prepared for the worse.
