I drove out to Colorado and met up with my buddy Mike at his house in Parachute. We loaded up our prospecting gear and camping supplies and headed out for a gold prospecting adventure! We left Parachute and drove through Glenwood Springs, and Aspen, and up to Independence pass. Up at the pass the scenery was incredible, and we stopped for a short hike to checkout the Independence ghost town where there are still a bunch of old cabins from the old miners that once prospected there along the Roaring Fork River.

All the interesting history, the beautiful clear flowing river, and the amazing alpine scenery that surrounded it, made it the perfect thing to get us pumped up for our trip. After hiking around and checking it all out we headed back to the truck and continued our drive over the pass and down through Twin Lakes and into the Arkansas river valley to the little town of Granite where we caught the dirt road out to our prospecting destination... Cache creek! To hear more about this adventure stay tuned for part two coming soon!
