En esta fotografía tomada en el Jardín Botánico de Caracas, está representado un ser mágico, protector de las montañas, los bosques y del agua. Su nombre es Momoy y forma parte de la cultura de los Andes Venezolanos. Se cree que su origen se remonta cuando los pueblos indígenas habitaban esas tierras. El Momoy es una especie de duende representado con una larga barba y un sombrero de cogoyo. Fue esculpido en el tronco de un árbol seco y desde allí cuida a todas las criaturas que habitan este hermoso espacio natural reservorio de la fauna y de la flora proveniente de distintas regiones del planeta.
In this photograph taken at the Botanical Garden of Caracas, is represented a magical being, protector of the mountains, forests and water. His name is Momoy and he is part of the culture of the Venezuelan Andes. Supposedly its origin dates back to the time when the indigenous peoples inhabited those lands. The Momoy is a kind of goblin represented with a long beard and a cogoyo hat. He was sculpted in the trunk of a dry tree and from there he watches over all the creatures that inhabit this beautiful natural space, a reservoir of fauna and flora from different regions of the planet.
