I found these beautiful adenium flowers were planted at the vehicle parking area of a shopping center which is located in Gunung Bahagia Sub-district, South Balikpapan District, Balikpapan City, East Kalimantan Province, Indonesia. It is an evergreen or drought-deciduous succulent shrub (which can also lose its leaves during cold spells, or according to the subspecies or cultivar). It can grow to 0.12–5 m (0.39–16.40 ft) in height, with pachycaul (disproportionately large) stems and a stout, swollen basal caudex (a rootstock that protrudes from the soil). The leaves are spirally arranged, clustered toward the tips of the shoots, simple entire, leathery in texture, 5–15 cm (2.0–5.9 in) long and 1–8 cm (0.39–3.15 in) broad. The flowers are tubular, 2–5 cm (0.79–1.97 in) long, with the outer portion 4–6 cm (1.6–2.4 in) diameter with five petals, resembling those of other related genera such as Plumeria and Nerium. The flowers tend to be red and pink, often with a whitish blush outward of the throat.

Adenium obesum is a popular houseplant and bonsai in temperate regions. It requires a sunny location and a minimum indoor temperature in winter of 10 °C (50 °F). It thrives on a xeric watering regime as required by cacti. Adenium obesum is typically propagated by seed or stem cuttings. The numerous hybrids are propagated mainly by grafting on to seedling rootstock. While plants grown from seed are more likely to have the swollen caudex at a young age, with time many cutting-grown plants cannot be distinguished from seed-grown plants. Like many plants, Adenium obesum can also be propagated in vitro using plant tissue culture.
This plant has gained the Royal Horticultural Society's Award of Garden Merit

How to care for adenium flowers so that they bloom profusely

Water Regularly

You should not be careless when watering Adenium or Japanese Cambodian flowers.

Water the plants only when the planting media or soil feels dry.

When the dry season arrives, you can water this flower twice a day, every morning and evening.

Don't forget to put the plants in a shady place, so that the planting medium is not often exposed to water.

2. Pay attention to the temperature of the plant

Adenium flowers are often referred to as desert flowers because they like dry areas.

Therefore, you must pay attention to the temperature of the plant to keep it warm.

If the temperature of the plant feels cold then you simply move the plant to a warmer place and exposed to sunlight.

This is because, Adenium plants that are left cold for a long time will die quickly.

3. Fertilizer

The next way to care for Adenium flowers is to apply liquid fertilizer to these plants every week during the rainy season.

Give a mixture of calcium, phosphorus, and nitrogen in a ratio of 20:20:20.

The content can help accelerate the growth of flowers, leaves, and roots.

During the dry season, you can use mustard fertilizer.

Apply mustard fertilizer when the dry season arrives and in the middle of the dry season.

After the plant reaches 3 years of age, you can stop applying liquid fertilizer.

4. Replace the planting media

Don't forget to replace the planting media.

This must be done as the Adenium plants grow bigger and flower more profusely.

Plants become more fertile if you change the planting media when Adenium has grown large.

5. The Right Container or Pot

The use of containers or pots can affect the growth of adenium plants.

If you use a shallow container, then you will get a fat and unique stump shape.

This is because the roots do not find much food at the bottom of the container or flowerpot, so they look for food at the top of the container.

The use of containers such as polybags will actually make the roots thin and long.

Polybags are able to accommodate a lot of soil medium and make the roots continue to grow to the bottom of the polybag.

If you want good stems, you should replant this plant into a shallow container.

6. Enough Sunlight

The next way to take care of adenium flowers so that they bloom profusely is to keep the plant in a place that is exposed to sunlight.

This is because, this flower needs quite a lot of sunlight.

A lot of irradiation makes it flower quickly and have healthier stems and leaves.

Keep this plant under sunlight for 4 hours a day and the plant will continue to flower.

7. Air Circulation

This plant should be kept in an environment that is hygienic and has good air circulation.

This flower does not like humid environment as it decreases the immunity level of the flower and makes it susceptible to diseases and pests.
