The Day After

I have been working on a song about the aftermath of the pandemic and how things have really changed around the World and in my life personally. I feel like so many of us are still trying to overcome.

I call it 'The Day After' because when I was a kid, a movie came out with that title and at a time, everyone had so much fear in them, as a kid, I could feel it all around me.

It is still a work in progress, but this is what I have so far:

-Verse 1-
In the shadows of a silent scream
A whispered warning, a world unseen
Days dissolved like grains of sand
As weeks succumbed to an endless plan
The city's heartbeat, lost in time
As fear and doubt became the only rhyme

-Chorus-
We've been to the edge, we've faced our fears
But we're still alive, we're still standing here
We've been broken, but we're not defined
We're rising up, our hearts and souls aligned

-Verse 2-
Behind closed doors, we hid our pain
Afraid to breathe, afraid to love again
The world outside, a desolate sight
As hope and joy, seemed lost in the night
But we found strength, in the darkest place
And we rose up, with a newfound face

Behind the glow of screens, we found a place to hide
From the world outside, where fear and doubt would reside
We searched for connection, in a digital haze
And reached out for a hand, through the virtual maze
We found a way to cope, in the silence, a vice and the pain
And slowly learned to rise, above the heartache and the shame
