Greetings, Music lovers!🙌
I love Tuesdays because I love going deep into my music playlist to get those sweeeeeet Throwbacks.
On today's #threetunetuesday organized by @ablaze, I met some old jamz, and I feel so good bringing these songs to your memories.
Sweetest Girl by Wyclef Jean, Akon, and Lil Wayne
I didn't have this song in mind; I was searching for a particular music video on YouTube when I came across Tthe Sweetest Girl, and I was like, Oh My God!
I quickly clicked to watch, and I went back to the lanes of memory. I don't remember the exact age I was, when I came across this song, but I was so addicted to it that I always played it on repeat via a DVD player.
I'm sure you know this song, the beat, the lyrics, and the video.
The video made it more interesting, especially the movie-like scenes inside a refugee camp.
I'm not so inclined toward foreign musics, but this one has always had me.
Wyclef, Akon, and Lil Wayne nailed every bit of this song. I don't much of these of artists, I little I know are from their various popular hits...I wish a comeback is possible for them.
The song was released in 2007
One naira by MI and Waje
This song was released in 2010, and those were the days when love was a little bit cheap. You can use $0.3 to love Market and purchase love worth $1,000 right now.
In case you don't know this song, it's all about a girl sticking to her guy even though the guy is broke, even though the guy has just one naira, even though there's no Garri or Maggie.
This one naira we are talking about is equivalent to $0.0012 at the $795/naira rate.
Can we see that kind of love in this era? A big NO!
Although Waje is no longer in the limelight in the music industry, but tracks like One Naira will always get her referred to.
MI Abaga masterminded the music, and all kudos to him. His rap verses are tickling to anyone who loves "understandable" rap. It's not easy to rap with people understanding, that's why I don't fancy most of those raps that talk with the nose. Sorrry 🧐
Looku Looku by Tems
I've loved Tems baby since her very first album, especially this Looku Looku track.
I don't know why I came to love the song even though it doesn't sound cool to the majority of people. In my former workplace, the ladies I worked with never liked this song, and I always loved to play it on repeat🤸. Well, life is like that—one man's food is another man's poison.
The song is about a guy who keeps looking at ladies even when he has someone already. Anytime a lady walks past him, he must turn his eye to look, hence the title, Looku Looku.
The song was released in 2019.
