It was released on CD, 7 "vinyl, and as a DVD single with promotional video and a short interview with the band.

It peaked at # 3 on the UK Singles Chart. In the United States, it peaked at # 3 on the Modern Rock Tracks and # 66 on the Billboard Hot 100. The song was voted Best of 2004 by Village magazine polls. Voice Pazz & Jop. In November 2004, the single was certified a gold record by the Recording Industry Association of America.
