On this #ThreeTuneTuesday I’m picking 2000’s era bands from the “The” bands scene that broke in the Y2K years. I’ve done the New York scene for TTT before that include bands like The Strokes & The Yeah Yeah Yeahs, so today I’m picking THE bands outside that scene who either got swept up in the success of this early 2000’s trend or bands who weee to young and just missed the mainstream wave. Example The White Stripes who were from Detroit and had nothing to do with NYC’s The Strokes got promoted as being from the same scene. Same with Sweden’s The Hives. In 2002 if you had a “THE” in band name there was a 50/50 shot you’d get a record deal!

For bonus picks I’m picking tunes (2014) from two bands who formed a little too late to catch the early 2000’s wave bands like The Strokes,The White Stripes and others had. But one of them got mainstream success anyway in 2010 , that being The Black Keys. Also picking a tune from The Orwells who didn’t get much of any mainstream success besides this tune being in an apple commercial in 2015 but I gotta say The Orwells is probably my favorite THE band name.
Band - The Black Keys
Song - Fever
Album - Turn Blue (2014)
Band - The Orwells
Song - Who Needs You
