🎸Talking The Tunes Vlog 🎙️

  • Get Him To The Greek Soundtrack
  • 2010
  • Tunes Could Have been Legit Hits
  • Talking Tunes
  • Comedy Lyrics

It’s #ThreeTuneTuesday 🎸 and this week I’m doing something different! I’m picking all tunes from the same album. All tunes were written for the fictitious band Infant Sorrow in the 2010 comedy film Get Him To The Greek. Sang by actor and comedian at time Russel Brand. He sings all the songs himself. Ironically even though the songs were written for comedy lyrics and only for the movie, there are some really catchy tunes.

The following is a description from Apple Music ⬇️

“a movie about a young record-label intern hired to make sure the out-of-control celebrity gets to his gig on time. For a dash ofauthenticity, Brand had a hand writing these songs from Pulp's Jarvis Cocker, the Libertines' Carl Barat, singer-songwriter Dan Bern and actor Jason Segel (who conceived the side-splitting, puppet-based, Dracula-themed rock-opera inForgetting Sarah Marshall). "Just Say Yes" is a hilariously hedonistic anthem that opens the soundtrack with Bern singing in a nasal inflected whine similar to that of Liam Gallagher. "Furry Walls" lays into Oasis'
"Wonderwall" with unsexy sexual innuendos”…. - From Apple Music

As a bonus let’s go another full round of ThreeTuneTuesday from Ashlee! ⬇️

It’s Three Tune Tuesday! That means Gene did a solo post over at @geneeverett so Ashlee is taking over and doing a solo post here today! After talking Green Day and Gene saying they only have one decent album of songs post the nineties I decided to pick a song off each Green Day Y2K record (2000-2013). I pick a tune off all 4 albums they released between 2000-2012 and my favorite from each record.

First Up!

Starting backwards with the album ¡Uno! (2012) I’m picking the song Let Yourself Go. From the triple album release ¡Uno!,¡DUS!¡Dos!,¡Tré! Unfortunately this three album release mostly felt like b-sides and way too much music released. You could have just put the strongest of all three albums into one and had a decent album. Apparently Billy the singer and main writer was high AF and in a bad place. Sure let’s use that excuse 😉

Song - Let Yourself Go
Album - ¡Uno! (2012)

Second Up!

Working backwards the next album up is 2009’s 21st Century Breakdown. A record that was heavily produced and clearly meant to be the sister follow up album to 2004’s American Idiot record. Though for most fans it fell short. That said I love the song Murder City and that’s my second choice!

Song - Murder City
Album - 21st Century Breakdown (2009)

Third Up!

It’s the mainstream huge record 2004’s American Idiot! A record where amazingly Green Day had the same mega success they had with 1994’s Dookie. Just a monster mainstream success. Unlike the two picks above this album has a lot of good songs but I’d like to pick a non radio single so I’ll go with Whatsername.

Song - Whatsername
Album - American Idiot (2004)

Bonus Jam!

For my bonus pick we’ll go backwards to the next album in order the 2000 record Warning. Compared to American Idiot it’s average at best but I love the song Blood, Sex and Booze.

Song - Blood, Sex and Booze
Album - Warning (2000)
