Peter Gabriel, at first glance, does not look like a rock star. And after all, he has not belonged to the glossy world of rock & roll for many years, ever since he left his bandmates Genesis and began a brilliant and successful career as a soloist, singer and songwriter, creating his own very personal world of sound. A world of sounds built at the crossroads between naturalism and electronics, between past and future, between telematic communication and elementary tam tam. A way of playing that placed him at the forefront in the eighties and nineties, in that territory of crossover between different cultures and communication systems, which radically changed the musical scenario worldwide. Not only sounds, however, but also words, ideas and feelings that pushed him to express himself harshly even in politics, against Thatcher, in favour of Amnesty International, but above all against South African apartheid (Gabriel was one of the first to dedicate an intense and beautiful song to Steve Biko), and that brought the British musician to the forefront of many battles.

Hoy hablaremos de su álbum OVO

Peter Gabriel, a primera vista, no parece una estrella del rock. Y al fin y al cabo, hace muchos años que no pertenece al lustroso mundo del rock & roll, desde que abandonó a sus compañeros de banda Genesis y comenzó una brillante y exitosa carrera como solista, cantante y compositor, creando su propio y muy personal mundo sonoro. Un mundo de sonidos construido en la encrucijada entre el naturalismo y la electrónica, entre el pasado y el futuro, entre la comunicación telemática y el tam tam elemental. Una forma de tocar que le situó en la vanguardia en los años ochenta y noventa, en ese territorio de cruce entre diferentes culturas y sistemas de comunicación, que cambió radicalmente el panorama musical en todo el mundo. Pero no sólo sonidos, sino también palabras, ideas y sentimientos que le empujaron a expresarse con dureza incluso en política, contra Thatcher, a favor de Amnistía Internacional, pero sobre todo contra el apartheid sudafricano (Gabriel fue uno de los primeros en dedicar una intensa y hermosa canción a Steve Biko), y que llevaron al músico británico a la primera línea de muchas batallas.

In 2000, a show was staged inside the Millennium Dome in London, based on Gabriel's music and concept: the story of a family that through three generations describes the parabola of humanity. The result is called Ovo and is a musical world map so full of ideas that it makes your head spin: rap, industrial, Celtic, prog, ambient, folk, soul... With many guests and the beautiful voices of Elizabeth Fraser and Alison Goldfrapp.

OVO is the thirteenth album of British musician Peter Gabriel's solo career, soundtracked by the show of the same name staged inside London's Millennium Dome in 2000. It was released on 29 August 2000.

The album features various singers including Paul Buchanan of Blue Nile, Neneh Cherry, Rasco, Richie Havens and Elizabeth Fraser. It is a concept album focusing on three generations of a family, metaphorically representing the history of humanity.[1]

Two different versions were released: a ‘regular’ one intended for the US market and a ‘limited’ one for Europe; the latter edition contains a comic book with the story of OVO, a bonus CD with additional tracks and videos from the London show.

En 2000, se montó un espectáculo en la Cúpula del Milenio de Londres, basado en la música y el concepto de Gabriel: la historia de una familia que a través de tres generaciones describe la parábola de la humanidad. El resultado se llama Ovo y es un mapamundi musical tan lleno de ideas que hace girar la cabeza: rap, industrial, celta, prog, ambient, folk, soul... Con muchos invitados y las bellas voces de Elizabeth Fraser y Alison Goldfrapp.

OVO es el decimotercer álbum de la carrera en solitario del músico británico Peter Gabriel, banda sonora del espectáculo del mismo nombre representado en el Millennium Dome de Londres en 2000. Salió a la venta el 29 de agosto de 2000.

En el álbum participan varios cantantes, entre ellos Paul Buchanan de Blue Nile, Neneh Cherry, Rasco, Richie Havens y Elizabeth Fraser. Se trata de un álbum conceptual centrado en tres generaciones de una familia, que representa metafóricamente la historia de la humanidad[1].

Se publicaron dos versiones diferentes: una «normal» destinada al mercado estadounidense y otra «limitada» para Europa; esta última edición contiene un cómic con la historia de OVO, un CD extra con temas adicionales y vídeos del concierto de Londres.
